Let's have a little walk in the centre!

There are also rainy days in the summer. But as some say 'there is no bad weather, only inappropriate outfit' ;)

Kasia is here with us, it's her third day in Poznań. We take her out everyday.
That's where we've been today:

A must-go 'Bonbon Cafe'

Poznań is a totally flat city in a flat region of Wielkopolska. There are like... uhmm... two hills? One of them is Przemysław's Hill

There are some hidden places in the centre, like the passage to 'Zielona Weranda' Cafe'

Plac Wolności (Freedom Square) is now really a special place as there is the headquarters of the Malta Festival. Look!

...and then just walking around and watching shop windows

My place Poznań <3

"Stary Browar" - a little fun in the middle of a week

"Over 200 shops, 15 restaurants, 13 cafés, a theatre, a concert hall, several exhibition rooms, an 8-screen cinema, Blow Up Hall 50 50, 3 music clubs and a historic park – all in the centre of Poznań, in a historic setting of the 19th century industrial architecture of the old brewery" (http://www.starybrowar5050.com)

But "Stary Browar" Art and Business Centre is not only about luxury shopping and sophisticated art. We went there for a little walk, to have ice cream and listen to a music without restraints (well, if one wants to listen to a classical music concert then he won't take two little kids with...). And so we went to participate in "Young Vistuosos on the Chessboard"

As we had arrived earlier we had time to enjoy ice joghurt with fruit at Yogo Choice (they say it doesn't have much calories, fat - and it's all healthy instead ;))

Kasia - Greg's sister took care of the little gourmand ;)

And then he came - Filip Wałcerz, a great pianist.

It's been a great pleasure to listen to him, I loved him playing  especially Chopin.
Amelia enjoyed it in her own way (dancing)

After the concert we went to the Stary Browar's Park - for the whole summer there are free "Sports Classes" ("WF w Parku"): yoga on Tuesdays, tai-chi on Wednesdays and zumba on Thursdays

The Park is a pleasant place during summer - with a lot of deckchairs and other activities going on around

Just a simple afternoon in the middle of a week :)

Botanical Gardens

"The Botanical Gardens are a research and teaching division of Adam Mickiewicz University, considered to be one of the most modern and beautiful gardens of its type in Europe. Covering more than 22 hectars, it contains an imposing collection of over 7,000 species and varietes of plants from almost every climate zone of vegetation around globe." (www.poznan.pl)

Does it sound romantic enough...?

It was few years ago - I went there with Greg, before we got married. It was St. John's night, known for its magic. In Poland we have this legend about the search for the fern flower, it florishes for one night a year only. Staff of the Botanical Gardens organized lectures and night search for it. Though we haven't found it, it was a woderful experience.

Now we came back with Karolina, a friend of us, great girl, who had this idea to make a picnic.
So we rushed to find a good place.

We noticed a lot of "species and varieties of plants" and not only :) The smell of the garden is absolutely astonishing.

It took us quite some time to find a right place for a picnic and we got totally bitten by the mosquitos on our way... :0/

But when we found the right place - we knew it was it!

We didn't want ants to eat our food, so we moved to a bench

It was a great time, a sweet sunny Monday afternoon.
Waiting to come back to the Botanical Gardens!

FESTIVALS! FESTIVITIES!

Today I saw Mr. Jan A.P. Kaczmarek

having a walk on the Old Town (he is a Polish composer who has written music for over 50 films including 'Finding Neverland' with Johnny Depp (2005) for which he won an Academy Award).

I guess he is here for good fun, good rest, great cuisine - and working. In August there will be his second Transatlantyk Festival.

On the newspaper I saw some photos of him dancing on the Wolności (Freedom) Square, where these days one can participate in concerts and many interesting events. Many of them are there on the occasion of the Malta Festival

I used my time to have a glimpse on the Old Town Square and some events connected to the Day of Patrons (St.Peter and St.Paul) and the St. John's Market

and then headed for the Wolności Square to simply have some rest :)

A lot is going on in Poznań these days and it's all worth seeing. Have fun!
